The Best Ways to Level Pokemon: SoulSilver

"Pokemon SoulSilver" was released alongside "Pokemon HeartGold" in 2010. Like previous Pokemon games, the goal is to catch and train Pokemon to use in battles as you follow the story line. Pokemon games are considered "rock, paper scissors role-playing game (RPG)" games because every Pokemon will have a certain elemental attack that does extreme damage against another element. Water beats fire, fire beats grass, etc.. There are a number of ways to level up your Pokemon to make them stronger and able to defeat stronger enemies.
  1. Battling NPCs

    • The easiest way to level your Pokemon is to battle people you meet while walking around. Non-player characters (NPCs) will often have between three to six Pokemon for you to fight. Only the Pokemon you use to fight will gain experience so you should start each battle with your low-level Pokemon then switch to your strong Pokemon mid-battle. This ensures the experience is spread over all the Pokemon in your party instead of just the one who is fighting.

    Pokemon Day Care

    • As you progress through the game, you will come across a house called the "Pokemon Day Care Center." If you leave Pokemon here, they will accumulate experience whenever you are playing the game. Since they don't have to use a slot in your party, this is a good way to improve weak Pokemon without using them to battle.

    Grinding

    • As with most RPG games, you have ample opportunity to "grind" experience during the game. To do this, walk around in high grass where Pokemon are. Every time you defeat one, you get experience. You can seek out specific areas to make sure you are getting the most experience possible. You should only battle Pokemon that are close to the same level of the Pokemon in your party so you don't get defeated.

    Exp. Share Item

    • If you equip an item called "Exp. Share," all the Pokemon in your party will split the experience you earn from each battle. This is useful if you have one or two strong Pokemon and four weaker ones. You won't have to use the four weaker Pokemon in battle so you can help them level up without the risk of being defeated.
