Instructions
Attempt to release a Pokemon that causes glitches in your game, including MissingNo, a bad egg or any other Pokemon that produces problems after it is captured. If you cannot release MissingNo, you may have to create a new game on SoulSilver.
Enlist a friend's assistance. Your friend should restart his or her "Pokemon" game. Travel to the bottom floor of any Pokemon center and speak to the Wi-Fi representative to trade with your friend. Trade the Bad Egg to your friend and save your games. Your friend should restart his game. If you cannot trade the Bad Egg, you must start a new SoulSilver game.
Prevent the acid rain glitch from occurring. It results in battle in "SoulSilver" when a player uses "Pursuit" during any weather condition on a Pokemon that is withdrawing from battle during the same round. If the Pokemon faints because of "Pursuit," the glitch activates. When the next Pokemon enters battle, multiple weather conditions will be present at once, each one damaging the Pokemon involved in the battle. Avoid using "Pursuit," especially if your opponent may be weak enough to be knocked out by it.
Avoid feeding a Pomeg berry to a Pokemon that possesses low HP. It can cause a negative HP value, which the game interprets as very high. A Pokemon with -1 HP, for example, may be treated in-game as though it has 50,000 or more HP. Do not save your game if you experience this glitch. Heal your Pokemon at a Pokemon Center or give it a potion before you feed it a Pomeg berry.
Avoid using the bike in the fourth gear, which can cause the tweaking glitch. This glitch prevents SoulSilver from loading map data, sometimes leading to black screens. It can also freeze your game.
Start a new game on SoulSilver if you experience any other problems related to glitching, such as game freezing or other problems. Examine the game card to ensure that the connector pins, vertical metal pins on the back of the game, are not bent or contaminated. Clean with a dry cotton swab to remove contaminants. Contact Nintendo for replacement parts or a replacement copy of SoulSilver if the game is damaged (see Resources).
Ensure that the accessories you are using with SoulSilver are licensed by Nintendo. Using unlicensed products with SoulSilver may cause problems with game-play. Check packaging or manuals of any products you own for the official Nintendo seal.
