World One
A secret exit lies in World One that allows Mario to skip to World Five. The exit is in the final tower level of the world. After the first checkpoint, there is a vertical pipe that can shoot Mario upward. Mario passes by a golden door as he is shot into the air. Land Mario on the platform conjoined with the door and send him through. He will enter a room with quick-moving platforms. Move Mario to the gap on the wall on the upper-right. This will take him to the end of the level. Finish out the level and return to the world map. A canon will appear just below the tower. Move to this cannon to be shot to World Five.
World Two
A secret exit in World Two will give Mario access to World Five; first, you must unlock the second world's hidden level. Start in level three and make your way to the halfway point. Jump on the nearby switch to raise the water levels of the adjacent stream. Ride the rising water and swim into the room of coins. At the top of the room there is another switch. Jump on the switch to make the water rise again until Mario is pushed out of the top border of the screen. Once you are taken back to the map, level 2-A will appear. Enter the new level and go through most of the stage. The level requires Mario to perform several spin-jumps. The last spin-jump gives Mario a chance to grab the last red coin of the level. Launch off of the spin-jump platform. Instead of going for the red coin, have Mario fall to the right of it onto the red turtle. Jump just as Mario's feet touch the turtle. Mario will launch into the air by an alcove with a pipe. Land on the alcove and enter the pipe. Mario will appear at a level finish. End the level and Mario will return to the map where a cannon aimed at World Five will appear.
World Three
A secret exit through World Three's haunted house will lead to World Six. Proceed through the level until you see a large ghost dwelling next to a pipe and a button. Jump on the button to make the dotted squares to become blocks. Venture past the ghost to the right and wall-bounce until you reach a door high up on a hidden ledge. Go through the door to skip to the level finish. Once Mario returns to the map, a cannon for World Six will appear.
World Five
A hidden exit lies in World Five's haunted house level. Take the stairs in the level until you reach an area where three blocks appear in the left side of the screen. Be sure to get a mushroom on the way over incase Mario runs into an enemy. Jump onto the three blocks. Stand in the middle block and notice that invisible blocks block Mario's leap. Wall-jump to the left to get on top of the blocks. Jump again to reach a vine that Mario can climb. On the way up, a guarding ghost will appear on the right. Kill this creature to avoid taking any damage. Once Mario reaches the top of the vine, send him through the presented door. Mario will appear on a platform with two pumpkins. Hop on these pumpkins and get to the center of the platform. The platform will shake as it ascends, but there is no danger if Mario is in the right position. Once the finishing flagpole appears on the right, jump onto it to finish out the level. A cannon will appear on the World Five map that will send Mario to World Eight.
