Cheats for the Original Pokemon Ranger

"Pokemon Ranger" is a drastic departure from the traditional Pokemon experience. Instead of using a turn-based combat system common to its predecessors, "Pokemon Ranger" uses an active time capture mechanism, which makes good use of the DS touchscreen. This new interface creates a new way to catch cute partners, but unfortunately adds considerable difficulty to many of the encounters. This reason, along with other challenges, drives some players to seek cheats.

No-Lift Cheats
- Some creatures such as Flygon will take off as soon as you circle them a few times with the stylus. This makes it seem as if you are not circling it fast enough. However, if you circle it four or five times and leave the stylus on the screen, you will only need to circle it a few more times when it returns to finish the job. This cheat will not work if the creature crosses your capture line when it returns.
Kamakaze Cheats
- Some Pokemon, such as Charizard, have a nasty habit of dropping things such as spurts of fire to keep you from getting clean circles around them for capture. However, if you are good at keeping track of your stylus health, you can intentionally smash them before the Pokemon lands to clear a path for capture as long as you make sure your stylus keeps one health. It helps to use a Plusile or Minun assistant to shock your target first.
Completion Cheats
- Completing the game earns you entrance to Ranger Net, a place of special missions. Completing Special Mission 1 earns you the ability to capture Deoxys. Finishing Special Mission 2 allows you to capture Celebi. The reward for beating Special Mission 3 is the ability to capture Mew. If you beat the game several times and have a Minun, Makahitu and Snubble, you can sometimes run into a rare encounter where a Celebi is attacking a base. If you defeat it, it will lead you to a MewTwo that will require 200 circles to capture.
Manaphy Code Cheat
- In Ranger Net, you can enter codes to play secret missions that allow you to capture other Pokemon. Hold the "X" and "R" buttons while pressing left on the control pad for the password option. Enter "P8M2--9D6F--43H7" (minus the quotes) and you will receive a mission to save the Manaphy egg. If you succeed, you will receive an Manaphy egg that seems to do nothing. However, you can perform a wireless transfer to "Pokemon Diamond" or "Pokemon Pearl," hatch the egg and raise the rare creature. It will require 3,000 steps in-game for the Manaphy egg to hatch.
