How Do You Catch the Farfetch'd in Pokemon SoulSilver?

Farfetch'd, the Wild Duck Pokemon, is one of the few non-legendary Pokemon that doesn't evolve. This Normal/Flying-type Pokemon is good in battle against Fighting-, Grass- and Bug-type Pokemon. You first meet Farfetch'd in the Ilex Forest, south of Goldenrod City. The Charcoal Man asks you to round up his two missing Pokemon in exchange for the Hidden Machine (HM) move Cut. You can't keep his Farfetch'd, but you can catch your own if you continue on your journey and reach Ecruteak City.

  Travel west from Ecruteak City along Route 38 after you've defeated the gym leader to obtain the Fog Badge.

  Walk in the tall grass that lines the road. Fartech'd appears in the morning and afternoon, and you'll encounter it 10 percent of the time. Meowth is more common in this area, so you're likely to meet that Pokemon first. Keep walking in the grass and you'll eventually bump into Farfetch'd.

  Lower Farfetch'd's health with Grass- or Bug-type moves that slowly bring down its health. Avoid Rock- and Electric-type moves -- these can knock the Pokemon out. If you knock out Farfetch'd, you can't catch it.

  Toss an Ultra Ball when Farfetch'd's health is in the red zone. The lower you can get his health, the better.
- 5
  Repeat Step 4 if Farfetch'd breaks out of the ball, and continue tossing Ultra Balls until you catch it.
