How to Catch a Sandshrew in Pokemon Diamond

Sandshrew is a Ground-type Pokemon that was introduced in the first generation of Pokemon games, "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue." You can capture a Sandshrew in "Pokemon Diamond," but you will need a copy of "Pokemon LeafGreen" to do so. With the "Pokemon LeafGreen" cartridge in place, you can travel to Wayward Cave and capture a Level 16 or Level 17 Sandshrew.

  Insert the "Pokemon LeafGreen" cartridge into the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot at the bottom of the Nintendo DS.

  Travel to Wayward Cave. Wayward Cave is located underneath the Cycling Road. You will need a Pokemon that knows "Cut" in order to cut down a tree to access Wayward Cave.

  Walk around on either the first floor or the basement of the cave until you encounter a Sandshrew. There is an 8 percent chance of encountering a Sandshrew, so you may need to walk around for a bit before you finally encounter one.

  Use a Water-, Grass- or Flying-type Pokemon to weaken Sandshrew. Throw a Pokeball at the Sandshrew to catch it.
