How to Get a Hootyfruity in Viva Pinata

"Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise" for the Nintendo DS is a gardening simulation similar to titles such as "Harvest Moon" or "FarmVille." While the player can plant and harvest a range of produce, the goal is not simply to sell these goods, but to use them to attract living pinatas. Some pinatas are vegetarian and are drawn to plants such as turnips and beets. Others are carnivorous, and they're attracted to gardens that have certain pinatas already living there. The Hootyfruity resembles an owl, and it will only move into a garden that has at leave five Mousemallows.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Costolots and purchase at least five turnip seeds. The more you buy, the faster and more reliably you'll be able to get a Hootyfruity.

    • 2

Plant the turnip seeds in your garden. When they sprout, water them until smiley faces float over them. In time, they'll grow into mature turnips.

    • 3

Observe your garden. Eventually, a Mousemallow will move in, attracted to the turnips. When it moves in, it will eat a turnip. In time, it will eat more turnips to stay alive.

    • 4

Continue planting turnips until you have at least five Mousemallows in your garden. The Hootyfruity is attracted to Mousemallows. Once it eats five Mousemallows, it will move in, roosting in a tree.
