How to Get Pokerus in Pokemon Diamond

The "Pokerus" condition in "Pokemon Diamond" is a supremely rare status condition that your Pokemon have a chance of contracting from other Pokemon. Wild Pokemon with the "Pokerus" status appear less frequently than do "Shiny" Pokemon, and those rare Pokemon have a 1 in 8,132 chance of appearing in random battles. There are only two ways to contract the Pokerus in-game: catch it while fighting Wild Pokemon, or catch the Pokemon itself. Pokemon will also contract it from Pokerus-infected Pokemon on their team.

     Play the game normally until you encounter a Wild Pokemon with the Pokerus.

     Allow your Pokemon to get hit by the Wild Pokemon, try to catch the Pokemon yourself or attempt both.

     Place the infected Pokemon in the center of your team lineup. Each Pokemon on your team will have a chance of catching the Pokerus.
