Instructions
Level up your Pokemon. The most difficult and time-consuming way to get your Pokemon stronger is also the most effective. Battle wild Pokemon and trainers and your Pokemon will gain experience points.
Teach your Pokemon new moves. As your Pokemon levels up it will try to learn new moves. Read the description of the move. Replace it if it is better than an existing move. Visit the Pokemart of a department store to buy technical machines (TMs) that contain moves that can be used in battle. Teach your Pokemon a move from a TM to create a stronger, more well-rounded move set.
Give your Pokemon items to hold so it will be stronger in battle. Some items you will find throughout the game will have a special effect on certain Pokemon. For example, the item Charcoal, increases a fire-type Pokemon's attack by 20 percent, making its attacks stronger than the average fire-type Pokemon of the same level.
Feed your Pokemon Vitamins. Purchase vitamins from most Pokemarts and department stores in the game. Feeding your Pokemon certain vitamins will increase a corresponding statistic. For example, feeding your Pokemon Iron will increase the base defense stat of your Pokemon.
Use battle-effect items during battle. These are items that temporarily boost your Pokemon's statistics. For example, using an "X Speed" item will boost your Pokemon's speed for the duration of the battle or until it is withdrawn. Use these items to make your Pokemon stronger in battle by improving its weakest area or by making its strongest area even stronger.
