How to Trade From My FireRed on SoulSilver

Nintendo's "Pokemon" franchise has maintained a respected continuity among its long-term fans by allowing them to "migrate" Pokemon from past games to their more recent titles. A player can transfer all the Pokemon caught in "Pokemon FireRed" or "LeafGreen" or any Game Boy Advanced title to a Nintendo DS era game like "Pokemon SoulSilver." Using a Nintendo DS or DS Lite equipped with a Game Boy Advance slot, allows players this opportunity.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert "Pokemon FireRed" into SLOT-2 of your Nintendo DS.

    • 2

Obtain at least six Pokemon in "Pokemon FireRed" and put them in BOX-1 of any of the PCs in any Pokemon Center. Save your game and turn off the Nintendo DS. If you already have the Pokemon you wish to trade in BOX-1, skip to Step 3.

    • 3

Insert "Pokemon SoulSilver" into SLOT-1. Turn on the Nintendo DS and choose "Pokemon SoulSilver" from the start-up menu. Once the game loads, "MIGRATE FROM FIRERED" will appear as an option.

    • 4

Click "MIGRATE FROM FIRERED" and select "YES" twice to confirm. A new menu will open displaying your Pokemon from "FireRed."

    • 5

Select at least six Pokemon to transfer over to "Pokemon SoulSilver" and click "YES" to continue. Your Pokemon will then be sent to the "Pokemon SoulSilver" DS card and you will be returned to the main menu.

    • 6

Start your "Pokemon SoulSilver" game and head to the Pal Park, north of Fuchsia City.

    • 7

Enter the building labeled with Pokeball and talk to the man behind the counter. Select "YES" when he asks you to take part in the "Catching Show." He will step out the way.

    • 8

Head out the door behind him and go into the park. Your Pokemon will be located in their respective areas, for instance a Kyogre would be in the sea section of the park. Walk through each section to begin a battle with your Pokemon. You will be prompted to "THROW POKEBALL" rather than engage in a real battle.

    • 9

Throw a Pokeball to catch each of your "FireRed" Pokemon.
