How to Get a Cyndaquil in Pokemon Diamond

Cyndaquil is the Fire-type starter of "Pokemon Gold," "Pokemon Silver" and their remakes. If you complete the Hoenn Pokedex in "Pokemon Emerald," Professor Birch will allow you to pick either Cyndaquil or one of the other two starters in the second-games. Unfortunately, "Pokemon Diamond" players cannot obtain a Cyndaquil by catching it in the wild. Since the second-generation games are incompatible with "Pokemon Diamond," these players can only obtain Cyndaquil via Pal Park.

Instructions

    • 1

Complete the Hoenn Pokedex in "Pokemon Emerald" by obtaining every Hoenn Pokemon, including the legendaries. You don't have to capture event Pokemon, such as Lugia, Mew and Ho-oh.

    • 2

Show Professor Birch your Pokedex and he will allow you to pick one of the starters from "Pokemon Gold" and "Pokemon Silver." Choose Cyndaquil, which is the first option.

    • 3

Insert "Pokemon Emerald" into your DS. Start "Pokemon Emerald" and place the Cyndaquil and five other Pokemon into your PC. These are the six Pokemon you will catch in Pal Park.

    • 4

Go to the menu of "Pokemon Diamond" before loading your game. Select the six Pokemon you would like to transfer from "Pokemon Emerald." Load your game and head to Pal Park, which is located on Route 221.

    • 5

Look in all five areas of Pal Park. Use one of your Pal Park balls to capture the Cyndaquil once it appears. The ball has a 100 percent capture rate, just like a Master Ball. Once you capture all six Pokemon, you can retrieve your Cyndaquil from the PC.
