Plot
You control an unnamed Pokemon trainer from New Bark Town. You choose a starting Pokemon from Professor Elm and then set out across Johto. Your goal is to be the top trainer in the region, which you can accomplish by exploring the world to collect Pokemon for your team. Along the way, you must complete your Pokedex catalog, beat eight Gym Leaders to earn Gym Badges, defeat the Elite Four trainers and then square off against the final boss, Red, high on Mt. Silver.
Pokewalker
Pokemon SoulSilver, as well as Pokemon HeartGold, comes bundled with an accessory called the Pokewalker. You can wear this and walk around to level up a single Pokemon that you save to the device and earn the in-game currency known as "watts" that you can use to find new Pokemon and hunt for items. The Pokewalker connects to your DS by infrared signals to share information back and forth.
Bonus Routes
This game features several bonus routes that you will only unlock by using watts to open them. These routes contain Pokemon that are not obtainable in other parts of the game. The following is a list of routes that you can access, as well as the number of watts needed to unlock them: Rugged Road with 50 watts, Beautiful Beach with 200 watts, Suburban Area with 500 watts, Dim Cave with 1,000 watts, Blue Lake with 2,000 watts, and Town Outskirts with 3,000 watts.
Miscalleanous Facts
The game was released on March 10, 2010, to critical acclaim, notching an 87 score on the review aggregate site Metacritic. This makes it one of the top-20 rated DS games as of May 2011. Players return to many of the same areas from the original Game Boy game, but the areas feature subtle differences -- such as the Pokemon tower becoming the radio tower -- that mark the passage of time.
