How Can You Tell If You Have a Shiny Starter in Pokemon SoulSilver?

In "Pokemon SoulSilver," you are given a choice of three starter Pokemon -- Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile -- at the beginning of the game when you speak with Professor Elm in the Pokemon Lab. The starter Pokemon you choose has a 1-in-8,192 chance of being shiny. Shiny Pokemon have a different color scheme than normal Pokemon, but do not have better statistics. You will be able to see if your starter Pokemon is shiny by viewing its Pokemon information.

     Speak with Professor Elm in the Pokemon Laboratory. He will offer to give you a starter Pokemon to accompany you on your journey.

     Select the Pokemon you want and press "A" to confirm. You will then receive the Pokemon.

     Press "Start" to bring up the in-game menu. Select "Pokemon" and view your starter Pokemon's information. If it is a different color than normal and has a yellow star to the right of its sprite, your starter Pokemon is shiny.
