How to Get a Pokemon to Remember a Move

In Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, your Pokemon can only have four moves in their moveset at a time. If you want your Pokemon to learn another move after it already knows four, you must erase one move. Unfortunately, you may erase a move, only to find out the erased move is much better than the replacement. In order to get these moves back, you can speak to the Move Relearner. She will reteach a move to your Pokemon for one heartscale.

Instructions

- 1
  Go to Route 36 and speak to the Hiker. He will give you Rock Smash, an HM. Teach the HM to one of your Pokemon. Put this Pokemon in your party.

  Break rocks in and outside of caves and you may receive an item. Sometimes, this item will be a heartscale. You can also play the Pokewalker Item Minigame for heartscales.

  Fly or walk to Blackthorn City. Put the Pokemon that needs to remember a move in your party. Enter the home that is directly to the left of Blackthorn's Pokemon Center. Speak to the woman in front of the kitchen sink.

  Give the woman a heartscale. Choose the Pokemon you want to remember a move. The woman will show you a list of moves the Pokemon can relearn. For each move that the Pokemon relearns, you must give the woman one heartscale.
