How to Catch Magby in SoulSilver

In the Nintendo DS game, "Pokémon SoulSilver," players capture, train and battle each other using powerful creatures called Pokémon. One such creature is the live coal Pokémon Magby, which is the pre-evolutionary, or infant, version of Magmar and Magmortar. Thanks to Pokémon breeding, Magby can easily be a member of your fighting roster.

Instructions

  Capture a male and a female Magmar. You can find Magmar on the B1F level of the Burned Tower near Ecruteak City or in the Peak area of the Safari Zone.

  Locate the Pokémon breeder by the Daycare building on Route 34.

  Leave both your male and female Magmar inside the Daycare, then talk with the man outside the building. He will tell you whether or not your two Pokémon will mate, and what the odds are.
  
  If he says, "The two seem to get along very well!," there will be a 70% chance for them to mate. If he says, "The two seem to get along," there will be a 50% chance. Since your two Pokémon are the same species, there is a higher chance that they will breed.

  Take 256 steps throughout the game world to roll the dice and take the chance, then return to the Daycare center. If your Magmars have not yet bred, take 256 more steps, then return again and again until your Egg is waiting for you.

  Take 6,400 steps throughout the game world with the Egg in your inventory. Your Egg will hatch, and Magby will be yours.
