How to Clean a White DSi

The Nintendo DSi, a mobile gaming device, utilizes a matte finish to create a shiny appearance. To avoid damaging the matte finish, you must clean your DSi carefully. Commercial cleaning products can damage the finish, leading to a rubbery, lackluster appearance. Though a white DSi requires the same cleaning techniques as a colored DSi, it typically requires more frequent cleanings. The white surface contrasts heavily with stains and markings, making them appear highly visible.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the DSi lite so that its two screens are flat.

    • 2

Rub the top screen using an eyeglass cleaning cloth. Repeat this process for the bottom screen.

    • 3

Wipe the screens with a damp cloth, if they remain dirty after cleaning with an eyeglass cleaning cloth. Allow these screens to dry thoroughly and wipe the white plastic of the DSi with a clean cloth.

    • 4

      Close the DSi.

    • 5

Rub the outside of the DSi with a clean, lint-free cloth. Rub the outside of the DSi a second time using the eyeglass cleaning cloth.

    • 6

Remove the game from the DSi's game port. Hold the DSi so that the game port faces sideways. Hold a can of compressed air so that its nozzle is several inches from the DSi's game port. Pull the trigger of the compressed air to clean out the DSi's game port.
