How to Get Through the Magma Hideout in Emerald

The Team Magma Hideout houses Team Magma's primary headquarters deep in the heart of Mt. Chimney in the Hoenn region. In "Pokemon Emerald," the player must obtain the Key Item called the Magma Emblem after confronting Team Magma at Mt. Pyre. Entering the Jagged Pass area outside Mt. Chimney and Route 112 with the Magma Emblem reveals the entrance to the Magma Hideout, giving the player the opportunity to defeat Team Magma.

Instructions

  Enter the Team Magma Hideout after arriving at the entrance of Jagged Pass and watching the cutscene that occurs. The cave appearing from the ground contains the bulk of Team Magma's hideout. Head north after entering it; you will encounter three boulders. Use the Strength move to push the southern and western boulders left; continue through the unobstructed path. Walk ahead, go left again and walk south; you will come across a Team Magma grunt. Continue south to reach another room.

  Walk southeast to reach another Magma grunt; continue south through the maze-like room to an opening on the northern side. Go through the doorway to battle two more Magma grunts. Exit the small opening and head east to travel down another set of stairs. Battle two more Magma grunts and walk back to the maze-like room.

  Head south to go through the door ahead, continuing west to battle another Magma grunt. Go down the stairs, continuing south to reach another set of stairs; descend the stairs and walk through the nearest door. Head southwest to battle another Magma grunt. Continue north to battle two Magma grunts, including Team Magma Admin Tabitha. Follow the path ahead to meet Team Magma Leader Maxie.

  Battle Team Magma Leader Maxie using Water or Ice-type Pokemon to take advantage of his Pokemon's weaknesses. Head through the door ahead after battling Maxie to find the Escape Rope item. Use the Escape Rope to return outside and avoid having to backtrack your way to the entrance.
