How to Fix an Action Replay Glitch in Pokemon SoulSilver

Using an Action Replay device with your copy of "Pokemon SoulSilver" can occasionally cause glitches to occur. Some Action Replay codes cause beneficial glitches such as allowing players to catch Pokemon that were otherwise unavailable. Unfortunately, other glitches can have a negative impact on gameplay. Due to the nature of Action Replay codes, which alter the programming code in the cartridge, some glitches prevent players from playing the game and progressing.

Instructions

    • 1

If experiencing a glitch that stops you from playing "Pokemon SoulSilver," and the glitch is the result of an Action Replay code, the only way to clear the glitch is with a hard reset of the game. You will need to start "Pokemon SoulSilver" from the beginning.

    • 2

Insert a copy of "Pokemon SoulSilver" into your Nintendo DS without the Action Replay device. Because you are deleting all of the data in "Pokemon SoulSilver," you do not need the Action Replay in the console.

    • 3

Hold down the L and R buttons, then press the Start and Select buttons as soon as the main title screen appears. A message will warn you that you will lose all your data if you proceed.

    • 4

Press "A" to confirm and clear the game cartridge of any saved data. Any glitches will also be deleted. Allow the function to complete and start a new game.
