How to Take the R4 Chip Out of Your DS

The R4 card can hold gigabytes of games, depending on how large your microSD card is, and you do not need to install any special hardware to use it. You can drag-and-drop DS games stored on your computer onto your microSD card and use the R4 to play them on your DS console. The R4 chip looks just like a DS game cartridge and holds the microSD. You can remove and replace the R4 card whenever you like.

     Power off your DS. It could damage your DS if you attempt to remove the chip while you have a game on.

     Push the R4 cartridge further into the slot. This causes it to pop out.

     Remove the R4 card from the system by pulling it straight out of the slot. You can also remove the microSD card from the R4 cartridge to use it for other files.
