Instructions
Begin your game and travel to the Ruins of Alph. Head southwest from Violet City to find the ruins, and the lab above them.
Enter the ruins and explore the area. Inside, you will find a panel that, when you press the "A" button in front of it, will reveal a puzzle. Solve the puzzle by moving the tiles according to the in-game instructions until it forms the shape of Kabuto. Solving this puzzle will release the first set of Unown, A through J, into the ruins.
Approach the panel behind the puzzle to find a hidden panel. It will give you a clue to accessing a hidden room. The clue reads "Escape." Use an escape rope, then return to the room to find a hole you can climb into. Inside, you will find a hidden message and four items.
Move around the dungeon, getting into random battles and capturing the Unown in Poke Balls until you have collected at least three varieties. Exit the dungeon.
Enter the Alph Lab and speak with the scientists there. A scientist will upgrade your PokeDex with the "Unown Report," allowing you to keep track of which Unown you have seen and which you have not yet caught.
Return to the Ruins and capture the remaining Unown characters from the initial set. For example, if you have caught A, B and C, you still need to collect D through J.
Use Surf to get back into the ruins, and enter the second puzzle chamber. Again, use the in-game instructions to assemble the puzzle. When complete, it should look like an Aerodactyl. Once you have solved this puzzle, it will unlock the next set of characters: R through V.
Find the secret room hint on the back wall panel. "Flash," it says. Use the move Flash, then enter the room.
Explore the ruins and get into random battles until you have captured all of the Unown from the second set.
Use Surf again to enter the third puzzle chamber. Repeat the process of solving the puzzle, this time to resemble Ho-oh, and release W through Z. Capture these Pokemon for your report.
Examine the back wall with Ho-oh in the lead slot of your party, to answer the back wall clue, "Ho-oh." Doing so will open the back wall, allowing you to access the chamber and items.
Use Strength and Surf to access the fourth puzzle chamber. When solved, the puzzle looks like an Omanyte and unlocks the remaining letters, K through Q.
Equip your lead Pokemon with a Water Stone. Don't use it on him, as some water types will evolve using the Water Stone. Approach the back wall for the clue "Water," and then enter the back room.
Capture any outstanding Unown types.
Return to the Alph Lab, and speak with the scientist. He will hand you extra pages of the Unown report. After you have Page 7, return to the ruins.
Examine the panel directly behind the ladder in the entrance room. A scientist will appear to examine it, then take you back to Alph Lab. When you return to the room, you can collect ! and ?, the remaining two types of Unown.
