How to Teach Pikachu to Fly

In 2009, along with the Soul Silver and Heart Gold Pokemon games for Nintendo DS, variants of the classic Pikachu Pokemon were released. The two variants are the Surfing Pikachu and Flying Pikachu. Other types of Pikachus are unable to learn the moves Surf and Fly, making these variants unlike any other features in the game.

  Turn on your Pokewalker and put it in your pocket.

  Walk throughout the game. Every step you take with the Pokewalker in your pocket gives you an energy point which you spend on different rewards. Check your Pokewalker periodically until you have enough energy points to unlock the Yellow Forest.

  Buy the Unlock Yellow Forest option from the Pokewalker store.

  Go to the main menu and select the Yellow Forest button.

  Select the 'Catch Wild Pokemon' option from the main menu of the Pokewalker. The screen will display three patches of grass. Select patches of grass until you encounter a Pikachu holding a balloon. Catch the Pikachu and import it into your SoulSilver or HeartGold game.

  Teach the Pikachu Fly using the HM Fly item. You will be able to teach the Pikachu Fly as long as it is holding the balloons it had when you caught it. HM Fly can be obtained in Cianwood City. A woman gives you HM Fly after you defeat the Cianwood City gym.
