How to Make Time Pass While Waiting for the Safari Zone

The Safari Zone has been a part of Pokemon games since the earlier generations, but "Pokemon SoulSilver" and "Pokemon HeartGold" were the first that allowed you to customize its different areas. The ability to customize the Safari Zone allows you to lure out Pokemon that you normally never find in a given area. This seems like a convenient way to capture rare Pokemon, but you must often wait long stretches of time, as many as 150 days in some cases, before the Pokemon appears. However, you cheat the system by changing the internal calendar in your Nintendo DS.

Instructions

    • 1

Save your game once you have finished placing all of the objects in the Safari Zone area that you are customizing. Restart your Nintendo DS once the save process is complete.

    • 2

Tap the initial health and safety warning screen, then tap the DS icon at the bottom of the lower screen. This brings up the DS' options menu. Tap the blue icon with the picture of the calendar and clock in it -- this is the second icon from the left.

    • 3

Tap the calendar icon near the top of the lower screen. Use the arrow keys to alter the date. For example, if the Pokemon you try to lure in the Safari Zone requires you to wait 100 days after customizing the area, change the date so that it is 100 days from the current date. Tap the "Confirm" button once you have finished changing the calendar.

    • 4

Tap the "Go Back" button at the bottom of the screen to return to the main menu of options. Tap "Quit" to turn off your DS and save the changes. Restart the system and load your game. The internal calendar changes in both your DS and the Pokemon game you are playing. Walk around the Safari Zone until the Pokemon you are trying to lure appears.
