Walk Through Walls
Place your Action Replay (AR) cartridge in your turned off Nintendo DS. If you have the Action Replay Ultimate, place the Pokemon game cartridge in the appropriate slot on the back of the AR. If you have the regular AR, move on to the next step.
Turn on the DS. If you have the regular AR, remove the AR cartridge when prompted by the screen and replace it with the "Pokemon HeartGold" cartridge. For the AR Ultimate, simply turn the DS on. The AR should automatically recognize the game. When it does, just press the pop up with the name to select it. If it does not recognize it, it will give you a code when you turn it on. Press the button on the left corner of the second screen, then press "Add New Game" and input the name of the game and the Input Code when prompted.
When the game has been recognized and selected, press "Add New Code."
Type "Walk Through Walls" or something similar into the prompt for the name of the code.

Save the code and start the game.
Geting the Map
Go to Olivine City in your game.
Walk through the harbor to the ship to Kanto. Press "R" and "B" to activate your code.
Walk onto the ship in the harbor.
Immediately walk back out of the ship. With your "Walk Through Walls" code on, you will be able to do this.
Press "L" and "B" to deactivate the code. Look at your character's menu and your map will be restored. It may say that you are in Vermillion at this point, as you have tricked the game into thinking you took a trip on the ship, but when you enter a new area it should fix itself.
