Beating the Elite Four and Filling Up the Pokedex
Receive a Pokemon at the beginning of the video game by attempting to leave TwinLeaf City. Professor Rowan stops you and allows you to choose the fire Pokemon Chimchar, the water Pokemon Piplup or the grass Pokemon Turtwig. Train this Pokemon by battling and defeating other wild Pokemon, Pokemon trainers and gym leaders.
Capture and train five more different-typed Pokemon. For example, if you received a fire-type Pokemon from Professor Rowan, capture water, grass or normal-type Pokemon. Capture a Pokemon by purchasing Pokeballs at a PokeMart, encountering a Pokemon in the grass, cave or on the water, attacking it with your Pokemon and throwing the Pokeball at the Pokemon.
Travel to Victory Road, which is north of Sunyshore City, and defeat the Elite Four. Battling the Elite Four requires obtaining all eight gym leader badges and having six Pokemon that are level 57 or higher. Defeat the four trainers and latest champion back to back to become the new champion.
Search for and encounter Pokemon in the grass and caves, on the water and by battling other trainers to fill up your Sinnoh Pokedex. Avoid capturing all 150 Pokemon; just engage in battle and either defeat the Pokemon or flee to record the viewed Pokemon. Use the Pokemon you captured or received throughout your Pokemon journey to encounter other Pokemon. Check your Pokedex to confirm which Pokemon you still have to locate.
Receiving the Pokemon Sprites on Your Trainer Card
Travel to Sandgem, which is north of TwinLeaf City, and enter Professor Rowan's laboratory. Talk to Professor Rowan and Professor Oak to show them that you have seen all 150 Sinnoh Pokemon. Receive the National Pokedex for your efforts.
Travel to Canalave City, which is left of Jubilife City. Talk to the sailor in the house south of the Canalave Gym and say "No" to his proposition.
Leave the sailor's house, and travel to TwinLeaf City. Save your game and turn your Nintendo DS off. Turn the NDS back on to prompt a question. Select the name of a Pokemon, such as Aipom, Charizard or Arecus, as a response to the question.
Restart the saved game, and access the game's pause menu. Choose to view your "Trainer Card," which will now display a picture of a sprite in the suit of the Pokemon you chose. For example, if you responded with the word "Aipom" in Step 3, the sprite will wear an Aipom costume.
