How to Get Shinies in SoulSilver

In "Pokemon: Soul Silver," shiny Pokemon are creatures whose colors are different than ordinary Pokemon. Although these Pokemon are identical in strength and other attributes to non-shiny Pokemon, they remain an obstacle and interest to players. Your chances of finding a shiny Pokemon are one in eight. Finding a shiny Pokemon could take months, depending on how many battles you fight.

  Wander around places where random encounters with wild Pokemon can occur. Carry Pokeballs with you at all times and arrange a Pokemon team that consists of a variety of different types and levels.

  Examine the color scheme of wild Pokemon you are battling. Shiny Pokemon have a color that is atypical of the Pokemon's usual color. Weaken your opponent and use a Pokeball to capture it. If you do not encounter a shiny Pokemon, run away from battle or defeat the opponent for experience points. Continue to wander and enter random encounters until you find a shiny Pokemon.

  Look for shiny versions of rare or legendary Pokemon, such as Groudon. In "Soul Silver," players may encounter only one member of a particular Pokemon. Save your game before pursuing rare or legendary Pokemon. Once you go into battle with the Pokemon, turn off the system and approach the Pokemon for battle again if it was not shiny the first time. Repeat this process until the Pokemon is shiny.

  Save your game after you have captured a shiny Pokemon.
