How Do I Get a Shiny Kyogre in SoulSilver Without Cheating?

Although Kyogre, a water-type Pokemon, does not appear in "Pokemon SoulSilver," you can find it in other "Pokemon" games and then trade it to "SoulSilver." As for getting a shiny Kyogre, this is a matter of luck; you can expect to encounter a shiny version of a Pokemon once in every 8,192 encounters, so it may take awhile to get a shiny Kyogre without cheating. Keep in mind that shiny Pokemon do not exhibit increased strength or ability; their shiny hue is for appearances only.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Play "Pokemon Sapphire" or "Pokemon Emerald." Defeat the Elite Four in either game. In "Sapphire," travel to the Cave of Origin. There are six total floors to the cave, with Kyogre located on the last floor. Save the game on the fifth floor.

    • 2

Enter the sixth floor, B4F, of the Cave of Origin in "Sapphire." Approach Kyogre to initiate battle; it will be at level 70. If Kyogre appears to be blue, it is not shiny. Turn off the system, turn it on again and repeat this step until Kyogre appears to possess a purple or pinkish hue during battle. Weaken it and use a Poke Ball to capture it.

    • 3

Travel to the Marine Cave in "Emerald." Since it changes locations, you can only get a definitive answer about its current whereabouts from the man in the weather center. Before you reach the Marine Cave, save your game.

    • 4

Enter the cave. Kyogre will appear in the middle of a pool of water. Your Pokemon party should consist of Pokemon around level 45, as this is Kyogre's level in "Emerald." Approach Kyogre to begin battle. Evaluate its appearance using the same criteria set forth in Step 2. Turn off the system, turn it on again and repeat this step until Kyogre appears pink or purple in battle.

    • 5

Save your game after capturing Kyogre. Turn off the system and insert "Pokemon Pearl," "Diamond" or "Platinum" into the DS slot on the Nintendo DS. Insert "Pokemon Emerald" or "Sapphire" into the other slot of the system. Turn on the system.

    • 6

Use the "Pal Park" option from the main menu. This will permanently transfer Pokemon from "Emerald" or "Sapphire" to "Diamond," "Pearl," or "Platinum." Save your game after the transfer completes.

    • 7

Place "Pokemon SoulSilver" into a second Nintendo DS system. You may want to enlist a friend's assistance to handle the second system. Remove "Emerald" or "Sapphire" from the first Nintendo DS. You must have the Pal Pad from the Oreburgh City Wi-Fi Club in "SoulSilver" and "Diamond," "Pearl" or "Platinum" to trade.

    • 8

Go to the bottom floor of any Pokemon Center in both games. Speak to the Wi-Fi Club representative there and answer "Yes" to all of her questions. This will take you to the trade screen. While in this menu, click on your friend's name and select "Invite." Choose the "Trade" option.

    • 9

Click on Kyogre to trade. Wait until your friend accepts the trade. A shiny Kyogre will now appear in "Pokemon SoulSilver."
