How to Get Celebi in HG & SS

The only way to get the Celebi Pokemon in the "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" games is to trade for it with another player. You cannot find a Celebi in any Pokemon game released in the United States. The player you're trading with must have obtained the special time-traveling Pokemon during a free giveaway at GameStop stores in February and March 2011. Once you do trade someone for this Pokemon, you will be able to trigger a special event in the "HeartGold" and SoulSilver" games that takes you back in time.

Instructions

  Find another Pokemon player who will trade a Celebi to you. Make sure the other player originally downloaded the Celebi to "Pokemon Diamond," "Pearl" or "Platinum." If he downloaded it to a "HeartGold" or "SoulSilver" game, it will not work in your "HeartGold" or "SoulSilver" game.

  Start "HeartGold" or "SoulSilver" and go to a Pokemon Center. You can find a Pokemon Center in all cites and major towns.

  Go upstairs to the Union Room if you plan to trade with a friend using the infrared ports on your DS systems. Your friend must also enter the Union Room, and you both must have the Pokemon you plan to trade in your parties. When you see your friend's character on the DS, initiate a conversation with him and follow the on-screen instructions to make the trade.

  Go downstairs and enter the Wi-Fi Club if you plan to make the trade over the Internet. You and your friend must have registered each other's "friend codes" in the game before trading can take place, and you both must be connected to the Internet through a Wi-Fi router. Once downstairs, talk to either of the women at the center counter. The next screen will show which of your friends are online. Choose your friend from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the trade.

  Go to the Global Trade Center in the basement if you do not have a friend willing to trade a Celebi. Go to the "GTS" counter, select the "Trade" option and follow the instructions. The system allows you to put one of your Pokemon up for trade and ask for a Celebi in return. You leave your Pokemon there and return periodically to see whether someone has accepted the trade. You also can see whether someone else has offered a Celebi for trade. If you have the Pokemon someone else wants, you can trade.
