How Do I Get Flash in SoulSilver?

Throughout your travels in "Pokemon SoulSilver" you'll need to navigate some rough terrain, including pitch-black caves. Fortunately, you don't have to blindly travel through the caves. You can teach your Pokemon a move called "Flash," which illuminates dark areas, and you don't have to wait long to get it. Flash is available at the beginning of the game. After you defeat a Bellsprout-loving monk, you will receive Flash.

Instructions

  Visit the Sprout Tower in Violet City, which is north of Route 32, east of Route 31 and west of Route 36. Sprout Tower is the largest building in Violet City, and is surrounded by a forest.

  Climb up the ladder on the first floor. Once you reach the second floor, you will see another ladder. Take that ladder up to the third floor. You will likely battle various opponents before reaching the third floor.

  Talk to the Elder, who is standing between two Bellsprout statues. Once you talk to the Elder, he will send out his Pokemon to battle yours. Defeat the Elder's Pokemon and you will receive the Flash technical machine.
