How to Catch Houndour in Pokemon Diamond

"Pokemon Platinum" is another installment of the "Pokemon" monster collection games, released for the Nintendo DS in 2009. Tasked with becoming a Pokemon master, you travel area to area, solving puzzles, defeating the dastardly Team Galatic and catching as many Pokemon as you can. Hondour is a dark- and fire-based Pokemon in "Platinum" that can found in two locations of the game. Come prepared to get an easy catch.

  Review your maps. Houndour can be found in Route 214 and by Valor Lakefront. Travel to Route 214 by reading to Veilstone City, in the northeast corner of Sinnoh. Leave the south side of Veilstone City to get to Route 214. Head south of Route 214 to reach Valor Lakefront.

  Prepare yourself for night and day hunting. "Platinum" features both nighttime and daytime, and Pokemon are more likely to be found during different times of the day. Hunt for Houndour during the day in Route 214, as he is found more commonly during this time. Look for him during the night while you search in Valor Lakefront.

  Walk through grass. Different terrain types in "Platinum" feature different Pokemon encounters, and Houndour appears frequently in the grass as opposed to other terrain types.

  Coordinate your attacks. Bring Pokemon to fight that will counterbalance Houndour's fire- and dark-type background. Take water- and rock-based Pokemon to fight since these damage Houndour the most. Get his hit points as low as possible before using a Pokeball to catch him. If his hit points are too high, this doesn't work.

  Trade with a friend. Save time by trading with someone who has an extra Houndour, or trade with yourself using another copy of the game.
