How to Make Your Pokemon Grow Faster

As you play Pokemon games, the Pokemon traveling with you gain experience points every time they battle and win. As these points accumulate, the Pokemon moves up to higher levels. Each new level increases the Pokemon's strength, and periodically a level increase gives the Pokemon a new battle move to learn, usually a more effective one. A Pokemon with a higher level tends to have an advantage over lower-level Pokemon, so your goal as a trainer is to level-up your Pokemon as quickly as possible to defeat your opponents and their Pokemon.

Instructions

  1. Hold Items to Boost Experience

    • 1

Place a Pokemon who needs the most experience first in your Pokemon party. If you have the Lucky Egg item, give it to this Pokemon to hold. See the Tips section for where to get the Lucky Egg in the different Pokemon game versions.

    • 2

Enter into a battle with another trainer or a wild Pokemon by walking around the game map. You find wild Pokemon in all grassy areas and inside caves. Trainers tend to congregate near roads and in cities.

    • 3

Tap the "Pokemon" button on your touch screen when the battle begins and swap in a more experienced Pokemon to fight your opponent. At the conclusion of the battle, both of your Pokemon receive experience points because they were present at the fight, even if the first Pokemon did nothing. If the first Pokemon holds the Lucky Egg, he gains a boosted amount of experience.

    • 4

Give the next weakest Pokemon in your party the Exp. Share to hold if you have it. See the Tips section to learn where to find the Exp. Share in the different Pokemon game versions.

    • 5

Enter another battle with either a wild Pokemon or a trainer. Repeat step 3, but don't swap in the Pokemon holding the Exp. Share. This Pokemon will gain battle experience without needing to fight because it's holding the Exp. Share.

    • 6

Defeat your opponent and when the battle ends, three Pokemon in your party will gain experience points when only one did the actual fighting.

Leave a Pokemon at the Day Care Center

    • 7

Bring a weak Pokemon that needs experience to the Day Care Center to look after. The longer it stays at the center the more levels it moves up.

    • 8

Walk around and continue playing the game while your Pokemon plays at the Day Care Center. The more steps you take, the more the Pokemon grows.

    • 9

Return to the Day Care center after a few days to check the Pokemon's progress. The lady at the counter tells you how many levels your Pokemon has achieved since first arriving.

    • 10

Click "No" when the lady asks if you want the Pokemon back if you want him to continue growing at the Day Care Center.
