How to Catch Mudkip in Pokemon Platinum

The "Pokemon" franchise is built to create an interactive dynamic between players, encouraging a trade system to "catch 'em all." Each game has different Pokemon and to complete your set (and fill the Pokedex) you will need to use other "Pokemon" games. Mudkip is not actually available in "Pokemon Platinum," but by using the Pal Park system you can migrate it from the older Game Boy Advance "Pokemon" games.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain Mudkip as your starter Pokemon at the beginning of "Pokemon Ruby," "Pokemon Sapphire" or "Pokemon Emerald." You will also need to capture five other Pokemon to migrate over to "Pokemon Platinum."

    • 2

Put your Mudkip and the five other Pokemon in Box 1 on a PC in any Pokemon Center.

    • 3

Start "Pokemon Platinum" in Slot 1 of your Nintendo DS. The "Pokemon" game that holds your Mudkip should be inserted in Slot 2.

    • 4

Select "Migrate From..." on the main menu screen. Click "Yes" until the Pokemon selection screen appears.

    • 5

Choose Mudkip and five other Pokemon. Click "Yes" until you are returned to the start menu.

    • 6

Load your current "Pokemon Platinum" game.

    • 7

Walk or fly to Route 221 on your map. The Pal Park is located here.

    • 8

Head inside the building labeled with a Pokeball above the doorway.

    • 9

Speak with the attendant at the counter and select "Yes" when the attendant asks if you'd like to participate in a catching show. The attendant will move out of the way.

    • 10

Go through the door in the back out into the Pal Park. Head to the pond area and walk around until Mudkip engages you in battle.

    • 11

Throw a Pokeball to catch Mudkip.
