How to Get Skarmory in Pokemon HeartGold

A Steel- and Flying-type armored bird Pokemon, Skarmory does not evolve into any other Pokemon. The Pokedex describes Skarmory as capable of reaching flying speeds of more than 180 miles per hour. Skarmory possesses a high defense statistic, making it a formidable opponent in battle. While Skarmory cannot be captured in "Pokemon: Heart Gold," it can be captured and traded from "Pokemon SoulSilver," "Pokemon Platinum," "Pokemon Pearl" and "Pokemon Diamond." Players will need a second Nintendo DS system in order to trade between the games.

Instructions

    • 1

Place "Pokemon SoulSilver" into the Nintendo DS system and resume your saved game. Travel to Route 45, located south of Blackthorn City in the Johto region.

    • 2

Wander about Route 45. One in 20 random encounters should be with Skarmory, no matter the time of day in-game. Skarmory appears at level 27. Attack Skamory and weaken it in battle. When weakened, use a Pokeball to capture it.

    • 3

Resume a saved game in "Pokemon Diamond," "Pokemon Pearl" or "Pokemon Platinum" if you do not possess "Pokemon SoulSilver." Travel to Route 227, located in the Sinnoh Region, northeast of the Survival Area.

    • 4

Wander until you have a random encounter with Skamory. In these games, as in "Pokemon SoulSilver," there is a one in 20 chance of facing Skarmory in a random encounter. Skamory appears at level 53.

    • 5

Travel to Stark Mountain in "Pokemon Diamond," "Pokemon Pearl" or "Pokemon Platinum." Stark Mountain is located in the Sinnoh Region, north of Route 227. Roam outside of Stark Mountain until you face Skarmory in a random encounter. Skarmory appears at level 53. Weaken and capture Skarmory using a Pokeball. Save the game.

    • 6

Enlist a friend to insert the "Pokemon HeartGold" cartridge into a second Nintendo DS. If both players do not yet have the Pal Pad, it must be obtained at the Oreburgh City Wi-Fi Club first. Afterward, players can open the main menu and select "Bag," "Key Items," "Pal Pad" and "Code" to view the friend code. Exchange this code with your friend.

    • 7

Enter the other player's friend code into your system. Repeat Step 6 to access the Pal Pad, but select "Register Friend Code" instead of "Code." Enter your friend's name and friend code; press "OK" after you enter them.

    • 8

Travel to any Pokemon center along with your friend. Go to the bottom floor of the center and speak to the Wi-Fi Club representative. Select "Yes" to answer her questions four times, which will save your game and take you to the trade screen.

    • 9

Select your friend's name from the trade screen menu. Select "Invite" and then "Trade." When your friend accepts, select Skarmory to trade. Confirm your trade choice. After the trade is completed, heal Skarmory in the Pokemon Center and save your game. Skarmory is now traded to "Pokemon HeartGold."
