How to Get a Heatran in Pokemon HeartGold

Heatran is a Fire and Steel-type Pokemon that dwells in volcanic areas. Some of Heatran's abilities include Scary Face, Lava Plume, Fire Spin and Iron Head. In battle, Water, Fighting and Ground-type Pokemon prove most effective against Heatran. Although you cannot capture a Heatran in "Pokemon HeartGold," you can trade it to the game from "Pokemon Diamond," "Pearl" or "Platinum," where it appears as a level 70 Pokemon. However, to find Heatran in these games, you must have already completed them.

Instructions

  Place "Pokemon Diamond," "Pearl," or "Platinum" into the Nintendo DS and turn the system on. Go to Snowpoint's southwestern section and talk to the sailor there to travel to the Fight Area. You will encounter another character, Buck, along the way.

  Select Pokemon that possess the abilities Strength, Rock Climb, Rock Smash and Surf. Travel north on Route 225 until you reach the Survival Area. Go east to reach Route 226. Use your Pokemon's special abilities to navigate rugged or watery terrain. Turn north to get onto Route 227, which is located at the end of Route 226.

  Use your bike to jump over the rocks along the path. Continue traveling until you reach Stark Mountain. Enter the mountain. Use a Pokemon's Strength ability to push rocks out of your way. Speak to your rival in the next area of Stark Mountain. He will complain about Buck defeating him.

  Speak to Buck as you travel through Stark Mountain. He will join your party. Continue to travel north in this area, using your Pokemon's abilities to clear a path for your party. When you reach a small room at the end of Stark Mountain, Buck will steal the mountain's item, the Magma Stone, for himself. Use an escape rope to leave Stark Mountain after this exchange.

  Return to the Survival Area. Enter the houses located there until you find Buck. He will tell you he intends to return the Magma Stone. Follow Buck and return to the small room where you found the Magma Stone in Stark Mountain. Speak to Buck to awaken Heatran.

  Battle Heatran until it is weakened. Use a Poke Ball to capture it.

  Save your game and travel to any Pokemon Center. Enlist the assistance of a friend who has a second Nintendo DS. Place "Pokemon HeartGold" into the second system and turn it on. Both players should have the Pal Pad, which you can obtain at the Oreburgh City Wi-Fi Club.

  Check your friend code. Your friend should also check his friend code. Go to "Menu" "Bag, "Key Items," and select "Pal Pad." Press "Use" and select "Code" to view your friend code. Exchange this password with your friend.

  Repeat step 7, but instead of selecting "Code," select "Register Friend Code." Enter your friend's name and friend code. Select "OK" after you enter each of them.

  Travel to the bottom floor of the Pokemon Center. Both players should speak to the Wi-Fi Club representative. Select "Yes" four times to save your game and enter the trade screen. Highlight your friend's name, select "Invite" and then select "Trade."

  Select Heatran to trade. Select "Yes" to accept the trade. Both players should save their games. Heatran will now be transferred to "Pokemon HeartGold."
