How to Get Past Eterna City in Diamond

The Eterna City Gym is where you must go to get the second badge in "Pokemon Diamond Version." The gym at Eterna City is different from most other gyms in the Pokemon franchise because you must find and confront all of the trainers before the gym leader, Gardenia, will appear. Most gyms allow you to avoid trainers and skip right to the leader. Before you can fight Eterna City's gym trainers, however, you have to find them -- they are hiding behind trees throughout the gym.

Instructions

  Enter the Eterna City Gym near the southeast corner of the city. Find the first trainer by walking straight up to the gym leader's platform, then head east. Walk down the path to the south until you can't go any further, then head east again to find the trainer. Fight her so you can proceed to the next trainer.

  Backtrack from the area where you found the first trainer to the gym leader's platform. Head west from here, then follow the linear path to a cluster of trees to find the second trainer. Defeat her Pokemon and the third trainer will be made available for battle.

  Leave the second trainer's area and head all the way back to the gym's entrance. Walk along the first path to the east to head north until you find a tree -- the last gym trainer is behind it.

  Fight the third trainer and the gym's leader, Gardenia, will appear at her platform in the northern area of the gym. Backtrack along the path you used to get to the trainer until you get back to the gym's entrance. Go north from here to confront Gardenia. Defeat her to get the Forest Badge and the Grass Knot TM.
