How to Make Spotlight Items Appear in Animal Crossing: Wild World

In "Animal Crossing: Wild World," most of your shopping is done at the local store owned by Tom Nook. At the beginning of the game, Nook owns a small shack that can only hold a few items. As you spend more money there, though, the shop gradually upgrades. With the final upgrade of the shop, you are able to buy Spotlight Items. These are very rare and expensive items, and this shop is often the only place in the game where it is possible to buy them.

Instructions

    • 1

Earn as much money, called bells, as possible. You need 240,000 bells to upgrade Nook's store. Bells are obtained by selling things and doing tasks for residents. If you have a gold shovel, hit the rocks around town with it every day. One rock per day contains several bags of bells.

    • 2

Buy 240,000 bells worth of items at Nook's store. This must be done over the course of several days. Once you buy an item from the store, it is sold out for that day.

    • 3

Have a friend obtain a "Friend Code" so that she is able to enter your town. A Friend Code is obtained by speaking to Copper, the dog on the right side of the town gate. Select "Friend Code!" and then "Gimme one" to get the code.

    • 4

Talk to Copper and choose "Invite Guests!" Enter your friend's Friend Code at the prompt. Your friend is now able to visit your town.

    • 5

Instruct your friend to buy anything from Nook's store. After your friend leaves, visit Nook again. He tells you he is upgrading to Nookington's, the best store in the game.

    • 6

Wait for Nookington's to be complete. Go into the shop every day to look for Spotlight Items. The items that Nook offers are randomly chosen, but Spotlight Items appear more often near the end of the month.
