Fingerprints
Collecting fingerprints is an important part of solving the mystery. You can collect fingerprints from suspects and objects, then scan them with the scanalyzer tool. Ultimately, you will be able to match a fingerprint on a clue to the fingerprint of the culprit.
Talking to Suspects
Like a real detective, Nancy must interview the characters in the game. These conversations provide essential information about the mystery and sometimes provide important clues. One example occurs when Nancy speaks to a character named Mr. Wargrave. He gives Nancy a key that allows her to explore an area that she couldn't get to previously.
Opening Doors
You'll encounter several locked doors during the game. Some require a key like the one Nancy receives from Mr. Wargrave. But other doors require specific codes comprised of symbols and colors. The code will be hidden near the door. One example is a locked door behind a row of knight statues. There is a different color at the base of each statue, and, strung together, the colors are the code to the door. Keep your eyes peeled for symbols and colors throughout the investigation. Each time you figure out a code, write it down, as you will have to use it every time you need to use that particular door.
Clues
Clues are hidden throughout the game. You will be able to identify these clues when a question mark appears at the bottom of the screen. The question mark turns into an X the closer Nancy gets to it, and she can then collect it. Items Nancy needs to collect include gears, pieces of a picture, tuning forks, tome pages and coins. All of the hidden clues are used in different puzzles throughout the game.
