How to Catch Heatran in Pokémon Diamond

In "Pokémon Diamond," Heatran is easy to locate but difficult to catch. He is a level 70 Pokémon who uses four attacks: Scary Face, Lava Plume, Fire Spin and Iron Head. When battling him, you will find your Pokémon slowed down by Scary Face and painfully burned by Lava Plume. In addition to his strengths, he is a Legendary Pokémon, which makes catching him even more difficult. These types of Pokémon must be captured in the first try; otherwise, the opportunity is lost. Catching Heatran can be quite a challenge; however, by following a few tactics, you can add him to your collection and move forward in the game.

Instructions

  Go to Stark Mountain, which is located in the northern part of Northeast Island. You will encounter a boy named Buck, who will join you on a quest to find a Magma Stone.

  Head north until you reach a ledge with a passageway. Inside the passageway is a small room, where the Magma Stone is located. When you enter the room, Buck will steal the Magma Stone and run away.

  Head back to the Survival Area. Use an Escape Rope to descend the mountain faster.

  Find the house to the left of the Pokémon Center in the Survival Area. Head inside the house and talk to Buck's grandfather. His grandfather will reveal the importance of the stone; he will tell you that it keeps a volcano at bay. Talk to Buck. He will agree to return the stone to the mountain alone.

  Return to Stark Mountain without Buck. Heatran will now be visible at Stark Mountain. He is located in the same place as the Magma Stone. Save the game before engaging him in battle; this way, you will have more than one shot at capturing him.

  Slow the Pokémon's attacks with Paralyze and Sleep moves.

  Use the False Swipe move to keep Heatran at 1 HP so you can capture him.

  Throw Dusk Balls until you catch Heatran. You should use Dusk Balls because the cave is dark, and this type of ball assists in capturing Pokémon located in unlit areas. You can buy Dusk Balls in Celestic Town.
