How to Set Up a DSi for Wireless

The Nintendo DSi is the third generation in Nintendo's DS line of hand-held gaming consoles, setting itself apart from its predecessors by including a pair of cameras and the ability to play and record audio files. The DSi expands on some features of the previous DS systems as well, including the ability to download DSi Ware games from the Nintendo Store using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Before you can use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, however, you must set it up properly on the DSi console.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the Nintendo DSi and tap the bottom touch screen when prompted to advance to the main DSi menu. Locate the "System Settings" option from the menu and tap its icon to access the console's settings menu.

    • 2

Scroll to the third page of the DSi's system settings menu. Tap the button labeled "Internet" to access the console's Internet settings. Tap the "Connection Settings" button to begin setting up the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

    • 3

Select the connection you wish to set up, and then tap the "Search for an Access Point" button to let your DSi search for any available wireless networks. Each detected network will have a lock icon beside it to indicate whether the network is secured or unsecured.

    • 4

Select the network you want to set up your DSi to use. If the network you want to use isn't displayed, tap the "Manual Setup" button and enter the network name or SSID. Enter the network password or WEP key if prompted to do so; this is only required if the network is secured.

    • 5

Tap the "OK" button to save your security settings and perform a network connection test. Once the test is successful, the DSi will return to the connection select screen with the network you just set up listed in the connection options. Exit the connection, Internet and system settings menus to return to the main DSi menu.
