Instructions
Insert a game that supports an online multi-player option into the Nintendo DS. Turn on the console and navigate to the main menu of the inserted game. Look for a Wi-Fi option entitled "Nintendo WFC" under the game's main menu. If you have difficulty finding the Wi-Fi menu, consult the game's manual for more detailed instructions pertaining to a certain game.
Select "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings" on the setup screen by tapping the entitled button on the DS's touch screen. Choose "Connection 1 None" immediately after selecting the settings option and then tap "Search for an Access Point." The Nintendo DS will search for available wireless networks. Unlocked networks will have an open padlock icon beside them, and will connect immediately once selecting them. Password-protected networks, which will be prevalent in a university setting, will have a red locked padlock icon next to them.
Select the password-protected network. You will be prompted that a security key is needed. Enter the key provided to you by the university by tapping it into the password field. Select "OK" when you have entered the key. The DS will ask if you wish to save the settings of the wireless network. If you plan on using the university connection quite often, you may wish to save the settings. The DS will attempt to connect to the network. If the password is correct, a prompt signaling you that "The connection test was successful" will appear, and the device is online.
