HM Cheats for Pokemon Ruby & Pokemon Sapphire

In Pokemon Pearl, Pokemon must complete mini-quests and tasks to obtain special abilities. These abilities are called HM. These HMs, or abilities, are used to complete missions throughout the journey. They are spread out in various towns and are only given upon completion of a task. These abilities are required to complete the game, but are difficult to locate.

Cut
- Explore the northern area of the Eterna Forest. You will be approached by a Gothic-looking trainer named Cynthia. Defeat Cynthia in battle and you will receive the Cut. In a battle, Cut has no special effects. Outside of a battle, Cut allows you to remove plants from your path. Cut should be used on a grass-type Pokemon.
Fly
- Enter the Galactic Warehouse. Battle through the warehouse until you meet Maylene. Defeat Maylene and retrieve Professor Rowan's assistant's stolen Pokedex. Return the Pokedex to the assistant in Veilstone City. You will be given Fly. Inside of battle, Fly elevates your Pokemon into the air on the first turn. The Pokemon then attacks on the second turn. Outside of battle, Fly allows you to travel from city to city instantly. Fly should be given to a bird-type Pokemon.
Surf
- Examine the Shrine at the ruins in Celestic town. Next, speak to the elder in Celestic town who happens to be Cynthia's grandmother. She will give you the HM Surf. In a battle, Surf has no special effects. Outside a battle, Surf allows your to travel across water to locate islands and other hidden items. This HM should be used on a water-type Pokemon.
Strength
- Travel to Solaceon Town. Follow the man and woman into the tower. Travel to the top and speak to the old lady to the right. She will give you the HM Strength. Inside of a battle, Strength has no special effects. Outside of a battle, Strength allows you to move large boulders from your path. This should be given to a rock-type Pokemon.
