How to Find Munchlax on Platinum

Munchlax, the Big Eater Pokemon, is one of seven Pokemon attracted to honey trees. To capture this Pokemon, you must slather honey on honey trees near Floaroma Town as bait. As with setting any trap, you must be patient. When you check the baited tree after a few hours, a Pokemon may appear in the tree and it may be Munchlax. Munchlax is a normal-type Pokemon that learns strong moves such as "Body Slam" and "Last Resort" as it gains experience. You can also teach this Pokemon powerful moves such as "Blizzard" and "Solarbeam."

Instructions

Obtain Honey
- 1
  Visit Floaroma Town north of Jubilife City on Route 204.

  Walk through the trees in the upper left corner of the town to reach the honey farmer.

  Stand next to the farmer and press the "A" button to start a conversation.

  Reply "Yes" when the farmer offers to sell you some honey for $100.
Set the Honey Bait

  Walk east from the farmer to reach a honey tree next to his house. Honey trees look golden compared to regular trees in the game.

  Press "A" when you reach the tree and reply "Yes" when asked if you want to place honey on it. Honey attracts certain Pokemon, including Munchlax.

  Walk back the way you came and to return to the center of Floaroma Town.

  Travel east along route 205 to find another honey tree near the Valley Windworks at the end of the road. Place honey on this tree.

  Walk west along 205 until you come to the bridge in the middle of the route, then walk north across the bridge to find three more honey trees on this road.

  Apply honey to all three trees.
Check Honey Trees for Pokemon

  Check all the honey trees on which you put honey, in the same order you baited them, after six hours have passed. If the tree is rustling, it contains a Pokmeon.

  Stand next to the tree and press the "A" button to battle the Pokemon in the tree. You won't know which Pokemon it is until the battle begins.

  Reduce Munchlax's strength with any move except a fighting-type move. Fighting-type moves are super-effective against Munchlax, but if you knock it out, you won't be able to capture it. So use less-effective moves to slowly reduce Munchlax's strength.

  When Munchlax's hit points meter moves from yellow to red, throw a Pokeball to try to catch it. You may need to throw several balls on successive turns before Munchlax stays in the ball.
