How to Find Lotad on Pokemon HeartGold

Lotad is a water and grass-type Pokemon introduced in the third generation of the Pokemon games. It is the lowest evolutionary form of Ludicolo. As is common with newer Pokemon, Lotad only appears in the Safari Zone after the player has obtained the National Pokedex in "Pokemon HeartGold." The Safari Zone in Pokemon HeartGold is unique in that players can customize different areas in the zone to attract specific Pokemon.

Instructions

  Obtain the National Pokedex by encountering every Pokemon native to the Johto region.

  Travel to the Safari Zone, west of Cianwood City.

  Enter the Safari Zone building and talk to Baoba to receive your first challenge.

  Catch a Geodude in the first area upon entering the Safari Zone.

  Wait three hours for Baoba to call you again. He will ask you to add the Desert Area to the Safari Zone using the Area Customize tool. Catch a Sandshrew in the new area to complete the second challenge.

  Place the blocks Baoba gives you in the Desert Area. Place a total of eight Puddles, Fountains and Water Holes using the "A" key.

  Walk around in the grass of the Desert Area and Lotad will appear.
