How to Catch Shaymin in Pokemon Diamond

"Pokemon Diamond," the fourth generation of Pokemon games for hand-held Nintendo game systems, introduced a fleet of new Pokemon. While most could be captured via wild encounters, some were special and only obtainable through Nintendo Events or over the Internet using the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi connection. While Shaymin, a grass-type Pokemon, was only available through the Nintendo Event, it is still possible to obtain the cute porcupine-looking creature, as long as you use the Action Replay device, an unofficial program which allows codes to alter game-play.

Instructions

  Find a generous friend who attended the Nintendo Event and received the Mystery Gift and has Shaymin. Connect your devices via Wi-Fi connection and follow the in-game prompts to transfer Shaymin.

  Find an Action Replay device if you don't have a friend with Shaymin. Connect the Action Replay to your Nintendo DS and power on the device. Choose to input codes and type in:

  Press enter after inputting the six lines. Power up "Pokemon Diamond" and begin to play as normal. Enter any blue-roofed Pokemart and talk to the large man inside. He will give you an item entitled "Oak's Letter."

  Go to Route 224 by way to Victory Road. Inside will be foggy, which can lower accuracy unless you use the HM Defog, which reduces the fog tremendously.

  Partner up with Marley, who will help you out with his level 57 Arcanine, a fire-type Pokemon. Get through to the end of Victory Road and into Route 224. Head down the path until you see Professor Oak by a white stone. Talk to him.

  Input anything you want when Oak asks you to thank someone. The screen flashes and the landscape changes suddenly. Shaymin will appear and flee, so follow the escaping Pokemon.

  Use your bike and head north. After a long stretch, enter the Flower Paradise and get off the bike. Save the game and press the A button while looking at Shaymin. It will be level 30 and is one of the easier legendary Pokemon to catch.
