Nintendo DSi
The Nintendo DSi was an upgrade from the Nintendo DS and the DS Lite. It added cameras for players to take and manipulate pictures, added an online shop for downloadable software and revamped the DS menu system. The system lost the ability to play Game Boy Advance games, but could play any DS game that was available.
Nintendo DSi XL
The Nintendo DSi XL offered all the same features that the standard DSi offers, but was larger in size. The screen size was 93% larger than the Nintendo DS Lite. The larger screens made the device more accessible to those who had trouble with the small screens. The DSi XL also came with a larger, pen-sized stylus and came with three downloadable titles already installed on the device.
Colors
Both the DSi and the DSi XL came in exclusive colors. The standard Nintendo DSi was made available in pink, blue and black. The DSi XL was released in midnight blue, burgundy and bronze. Additional colors and designs were made available as part of exclusive bundle packages. For example, there were green and midnight blue DSi systems available in bundles, and a special Mario red DSi XL.
Nintendo 3DS
The Nintendo 3DS is the latest version of the Nintendo DS. It offers 3-D graphics, Web browsing and many exclusive games. However, the 3DS is fully compatible with all DSi games and downloadable software. The DSi shop is available for access on the 3DS. However, standard DSi games and downloadable DSi games will not be in 3-D.
