How to Get Magmortar in Pokemon Diamond

In "Pokemon: Diamond," gamers play an enterprising Pokemon trainer attempting to catch and train every existing Pokemon. One such Pokemon, Magmortar, dwells in volcanic craters and emits fireballs from its arms. While Magmortar cannot be caught in-game, through trading and the use of a Magmarizer, it is obtainable.

  Insert "Pokemon: Leaf Green" into the Gameboy Advanced (GBA) slot on the back of your Nintendo DS. Place "Pokemon: Diamond" into the main "DS" game slot. Turn on the system. Travel to Stark Mountain or Route 227. Circle the region until you are attacked by a wild Magby. Wild Pokemon attacks are random, so this may take some time.

  Weaken Magby and use a Pokeball to capture it. Magby will be between levels 25 and 28. Sometimes, Magby will come with a Magmarizer. If your Magby does not come with a Magmarizer, release it and capture another.

  Use Magby in battle, leveling it up until it reaches level 30. It will evolve into Magmar at level 30.

  Attach the Magmarizer to Magmar. Sit in close proximity to a friend who is also playing "Pokemon: Diamond." Both of you should travel to the top level of any Pokemon Center in the game. Speak to the lady in the center of the room and select the first option presented. Save your game.

  Move toward your friend's character and speak to him. Select the fourth option down to trade. Wait for your friend to accept the trade and then select Magmar. Your friend will have to select a Pokemon to trade to you for Magmar. Two options will appear. The first will show you a summary and the second will confirm your choice to trade. Select the second option.

  Push the "A" button to confirm the trade. Your Magmar will now evolve into Magmortar. Move toward your friend's character and speak to him again to initiate trading. Your friend can trade Magmortar back to you.
