How to Catch Kabuto in Soul Silver

Kabuto is a rock and water-type Pokémon, which makes him particularly effective against fire-type Pokémon; however, he is especially vulnerable to grass-type Pokémon attacks. You cannot catch Kabuto as you can other Pokémon in "Pokémon SoulSilver." Instead, you must revive him from the Dome Fossil. To do so, you must be able to travel to Pewter City, which only becomes accessible later in the game -- so be prepared to hold on to the Dome Fossil for awhile.

Instructions

  Go to the junction between Route 36 and Route 37. Find the Ruins of Alph to the south of the area.

  Talk to the old man who walks around the area to get Rock Smash (HM06).

  Teach Rock Smash to a Pokémon in your party who is able to learn it, such as Geodude or Diglett.

  Enter the Ruins of Alph and approach a cracked rock. Press the "A" button next to the rock and smash it with Rock Smash.

  Smash rocks in the area until you find a Dome Fossil in the rubble.

  Go to Pewter City and enter the museum. Walk to the right side and talk to the man at the computer. Give him the Dome Fossil and exit the museum.

  Enter the museum again and talk to the man at the computer to receive Kabuto.
