Several bonus challenges can be unlocked throughout "Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box." To unlock all puzzles, every level of the game must be completed. Playing the optional puzzles is an easy way to earn bonus Picarats and Hint Coins -- both currencies in "Diabolical Box."
Top Secrets
Varying amounts of Picarats can be collected to unlock behind-the-scenes bonus content. After 2,500 Picarats, players can access character profiles, while 3,000 Picarats will unlock story art from the development of the game; 3,500 Picarats makes the music in the game playable at any time, and 4,500 Picarats unlocks bonus game-related video clips.
Coin Cheats
An easy way to boost your Hint Coins is to beat the Hamster mini-game as soon as it becomes available. The fittest hamster from the mini-game will seek out Hint Coins for you upon completion. For unlimited Hint Coins, simply save your game before viewing a hint coin. After buying and reading the hints for that level, reset your game. You will be at the same level, but with your Hint Coins restored.
Tea Recipes
In several puzzles in "Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box," you are required to serve tea to customers. Maximum points are awarded when you serve the tea they request. For Belle Classic Tea, mix Oasis Leaf, Brisk Berry and Belle Tart Seed, or use Oasis Leaf, Brisk Berry, Brisk Berry for Oasis Berry Tea. You can mix Oasis Leaf, Belle Tart Seed and Cinder Horse to make Sugar Smoke; combine Oasis Leaf, Joy Root Clover and Tonic Flower for Root Remedy. Additionally Cherry Boost can be made with Oasis Leaf, Peppercherry and Peppercherry.
