How to Move Pokemon From a Game Boy Advance Cartridge to the Nintendo DS Game

Starting a new adventure in a far away land that features a horde of strange, exotic Pokémon is always fun, but it's also nice to bring along a few friends from previous adventures. After meeting all of the new Pokémon in the DS "Pokémon" game you're playing, you will be able to reunite with your old favorite Pokémon from past Game Boy Advance "Pokémon" games. By bringing your pals from the past to mingle with the current generation of Pokémon, you can create a powerful team that is full of unexplored potential.

Things You'll Need

  • Nintendo DS system
  • "Pokemon Diamond," "Pokemon Pearl" or "Pokemon Platinum" DS game

Instructions

    • 1

Encounter all 150 Pokémon listed on the game's National Pokédex. These Pokémon are native to the Sinnoh region, and they include Carnivine, Toxicroak and Chatot. This is easier than it sounds, since all of the new Pokémon appear naturally during the course of the game's story.

    • 2

Go to Sandgem Town and use a Pokémon's Surf technique to ride the waves south and east to the Pal Park. When you find land, continue down the path until you find the Pal Park at the end. Save the game.

    • 3

Insert either "Pokemon Ruby," "Pokemon Sapphire," "Pokemon Emerald," "Pokemon FireRed" or "Pokemon LeafGreen" into the Game Boy Advance slot of your Nintendo DS and start your DS "Pokemon" game.

    • 4

Select the "Migrate From" option on the main menu, and then select up to six Pokemon to import into the Pal Park.

    • 5

Enter the Pal Park in your DS "Pokémon" game, and then talk to the man wearing the yellow hard hat to start a Catching Game. You are given six Park Balls and are let loose into the Pal Park to reclaim your Pokémon.

    • 6

Walk through the different terrain types to find your imported Pokémon. Pokémon will stay in specific location types. For example, an imported Kangaskan will wait for you in the field locations, while an imported Dustox will be located in the forest. Throw a Park Ball at a Pokémon when you encounter it in the Park. The Catching Game ends when you recapture all of your imported monsters.
