How to Breed a Riolu on SoulSilver

Riolu is a fighting-type baby Pokemon. It evolves into the powerful fighting and steel-type Pokemon Lucario through raising its happiness. Riolu was first introduced in the fourth generation of Pokemon games, and like many newer Pokemon, it can only be caught in the Safari Zone in "Pokemon SoulSilver." Players must decorate the Meadow Area of the Safari Zone with specific types of decorations to meet the criteria for Riolu to appear.

Instructions

    • 1

Catch a Riolu. To catch Riolu, you must place 14 Peak items and 10 Forest items in the Meadow Area of the Safari Zone. Baoba will give you up to thirty items to place in the Safari Zone. Small Rock, Big Rock and Mossy Rock are all Peak objects while Tree, Stump and Branches are Forest items. You must visit the Safari Zone once a day for 70 days before Riolu will appear in the Meadow Area.

    • 2

Evolve your Riolu into Lucario. Riolu will only evolve when leveled up at maximum happiness. Happiness is gradually gained by traveling and battling with your Pokemon. You can check your Pokemon's happiness with the old lady northeast of the bicycle shop in Goldenrod City.

    • 3

Find a Pokemon to breed with your Lucario. If your Pokemon is female, find a male Pokemon that is in either the Ground or Humanshape egg group (see Resources). If your Pokemon is male, you will need to breed it with a Ditto. You can find Ditto on Routes 34, 35 and 47 or in Cerulean Cave.

    • 4

Fly to Goldenrod City and head south to the Pokemon Day Care. Enter the building with a red roof on Route 34. Leave your two Pokemon with the old lady behind the counter.

    • 5

Ride around on your bike for a while. For every 256 spaces you move, there is a chance your Pokemon will produce an egg.

    • 6

Check back at the Pokemon Day Care. If an old man is standing out front, talk to him to receive your Riolu egg.
