How to Get Rock Smash in Pokemon SoulSilver

The 2010 Nintendo DS game "Pokemon: SoulSilver" introduces dozens of new Pokemon characters for you to collect and train while traveling through the Johto region. Early in the game you should obtain the Rock Smash ability, which you can use in battle to defeat opponents or during regular game play to clear paths and obtain hidden items. You can get this important item from a man on Route 36 near Violet City.

  Travel to Violet City, where you can train your characters and buy useful items. Before you leave, you will encounter a Kimono Girl who tempts you to follow her. Ignore her and take a different path.

  Take the trail up, which leads you to a tollbooth.

  Go left after passing through the tollbooth. This is Route 36, which will take you to Ruins of Alph.
- 4
  Speak to the overweight man you encounter along this route between Violet City and the ruins. He will give you Rock Smash.
